Women’s Golf In Second After First Round of Creighton Classic


first_imgOMAHA, Neb. – Three Drake University Bulldogs posted rounds among the top 11 on the leaderboard to put the Drake University women’s golf team in second place after the first round at the Creighton Classic, Monday, Oct. 1.The Bulldogs shot a combined round of 309 in wet conditions at Omaha’s Oak Hills Country Club to sit 12 strokes behind current leader UNI. Story Links “Today was one of our better rounds this season and I’m happy with the way we navigated the golf course having not played a practice round,” said Drake head coach Rachael Pruett. “If we can clean up a few mistakes in our final round, I know we can go even lower tomorrow.”  Creighton Invitational – Round 1 – Results Sigurlaug Jonsdottir (Hafnarfjordur, Iceland) had the Bulldogs’ low round of the day with a 3-over par, 37-39 – 76 as one of four Bulldogs to card rounds under 80. Jonsdottir’s round tied for seventh on the day.Sam Paulak (Kansas City, Mo.) finished with a 38-39 – 77 to help the Bulldogs climb the leaderboard while Grace Dunn (Brookfield, Wis.) and Haeri Lee (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) each shot 78 on the par-73 track. Paulak’s round tied for ninth on the day while Dunn and Lee were 11th.Erica Olberding (Des Moines, Iowa), who led the Bulldogs over the weekend at the Diane Thomason Invitational, struggled slightly Monday, shooting an 83.Kristen Giles (Georgetown, Ontario) competed as an individual and finished with a 79.The final 18 holes of the Creighton Classic will be contested Tuesday, Oct. 2, morning starting at 11 a.m. as the Bulldogs aim to move up the leaderboard.Print Friendly Versionlast_img
